Mona Street Community Garden is a community garden based in Salford, a 5 minute walk from Salford precinct. we came to take on the garden in an existing but dilapidated state being transformed from a former car park 7 years ago. we worked with the Salford Health Improvement Team and other organisations to renovate & redesign the space to make the most of the space for the benefit of the community.

We wanted to create a shared outdoor space for the community to use for a range of reasons (including educational workshops, mental & physical wellbeing sessions, a meeting space, event space for e.g. volunteer celebration days & local community groups) as well as growing fresh produce to be used by the community as they decide to use it.

we recived funding from salfordcvs and worked on site for over a year with local people and other organisations such as MOUP, For The Love Of Food, the Council & the NHS.

there is now a thriving group of local people working every week to keep the space looking great.
