PLATT FIELDS MARKET GARDEN
Our main site is a former bowling green in Fallowfield, South Manchester: Platt Fields Market Garden (PFMG). PFMG is a member of the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) network. On this site we produce over 1 tonne of food on just ½ an acre of land annually, in addition to improving the soil health, air quality and biodiversity of the area.
PFMG is both a community hub and a working market garden. we work with the community and host volunteer days, provide cooked food, facilitate & organise free events, fundraise / promote local community groups, offer a space to hire, and work with local businesses.
Through the work of staff and volunteers, what began as a fallow patch of grass with no facilities, is now a unique and thriving community market garden which is home to 10+ community groups & businesses. It is a beautiful oasis in a busy urban city. It is a place where local people develop a wide range of horticulture skills, connect with others, increase their physical activity, share food, learn about sustainable food growing and get involved in developing ideas and projects.
It is also the home of MUD Kitchen where we operate a café Friday, Saturday and Sunday as a way to keep the gates open and generate an income to help run the garden. MUD Kitchen also operates its own catering service which is open 7 days a week running seasonal fresh food around the city.

The garden is a brilliant place to bring your kids. We have plenty of space to run around in a securely fenced area. There is a MUD kitchen, sandpit, toys and you can book The Frog House for parties.
There's a Frog Trail for older children that will allow you to discover the garden whilst following clues. Ask at the cafe hatch for more info.
We're always on the look out for funding and partners to run more kids and young people activities at the garden. If you are interested get in touch.

We host markets throughout the year. Our regular markets are;
The MUD Market - food and community on the first Sunday of the Month
Platt Fields Art Market - A quarterly arts and crafts market
Kids Crafts Market - 3x a year, kids selling things they’ve made
We also have Christmas markets which are advertised through our social media.
Everything will be published on our events page.
